At the end of July, Inject Skin celebrated its 1 year anniversary. A clinic that I opened to offer affordable, evidence based and results driven cosmetic medical treatments.
I love what we have accomplished. We have a great team spearheaded by Jacinta who has done a tremendous job as clinic manager, dermal therapist, and confidant! Our injectables nurse Alana has an infectious personality, is a guru with a needle, and an Instagram saviour.
Professionally it’s been the toughest, and most rewarding year of my 10 years in medicine. Starting a new business can be tough, and this has been no exception. There have been times when I wasn’t sure we’d make it through the year. We aligned ourselves with people/businesses who were out to take money without delivering on their promises. And I’ve struggled with figuring out the best ways to advertise, while keeping within AHPRA guidelines, at the same time watching others break the rules. But seeing clients return thrilled with their results gives me the most professional satisfaction of anything I’ve done previously, and it makes the struggle worthwhile.
Through it all, we’ve persevered, and the right people have found us. I met a great couple who live in Noosa who have been very helpful, both personally and professionally. Colleagues in similar business have been willing to provide quality advice. Galderma, ZO, and Syneron Candela have all been extremely responsive and helpful when we’ve reached out to them.
We started with two Syneron Candela devices (the eTwo, still my favourite device for skin rejuvenation, and the Profound) and have added the elos Plus (IPL/RF), and Velashape III (body contouring) through the year. We added the Plexr device which will address perioral, periocular fine lines and eyelid droop. We’ve also applied for laser licensing and will be looking to add a CO2 laser within the next year.
I’ve also been fortunate enough to further my credentials by attending 3 international aesthetic conferences (Bangkok, Monte Carlo and Seoul), 1 national (ASAPS Gold Coast), and numerous Galderma workshops.
I’ve had the opportunity to do 3 speaking engagements with Syneron Candela on the eTwo sublative radiofrequency treatment, and I’ve recently been asked to assist Galderma with clinical training of the True-Lift technique, which I’m thrilled about! I look forward to continuing my relationship with these two industry leaders.
Looking back on the past year, I can’t believe how far we’ve come. And if the trend continues into the next year, then watch out!
But at the end of the day, it all comes back to results, and relationships. And we will always strive to offer only the best, proven treatments, and keep them as affordable as possible for you. Because it’s you, our clients, that have gotten us to where we are. And we look forward to many years to come.
