What is skin needling?
Skin needling (or CIT) is an advanced corrective treatment designed to create rejuvenating micro-channels into the skin’s matrix. These micro-channels effectively stimulate the skin’s wound healing response and initiate the formation of new collagen and elastin. They also provide pathways to assist in the delivery of active ingredients into the dermal layers of the skin.
What is Dermapen?
Dermapen is a superior needling device that ensures precise uniform penetration avoiding unnecessary epidermal damage. It’s powered oscillating action glides effortlessly across the surface of the skin allowing for a fast, effective, comfortable treatment. Dermapen’s easily interchangeable needle depths create customised treatments whereby multiple skin concerns can be targeted within one visit.
What are the benefits of skin needling?
Dermapen treatment has been shown to significantly improve the appearance of a wide range of skin concerns such as; lines and wrinkles, uneven tone and texture, loss of elasticity, stretch marks and scarring.
How often can it be performed?
Dermapen treatments can be performed on a regular basis with intervals between 2 and 6 weeks depending on the depth of treatment. Based on your skin concerns, a course of treatments may be recommended and an accompanying homecare regime prescribed to ensure optimal results.
Does it hurt?
A topical numbing agent is applied prior to treatment to ensure it is a comfortable process for the client.
Is there any downtime?
Immediately post treatment, the skin will be red and hot and this can last 1-2 days. Your skin may feel more sensitive, so it’s essential to avoid any heat based activities or exfoliating products during this time. For up to a week following treatment, you may experience some mild flaking or dryness so it’s important to stay hydrated as well.
